Tourism Chambers Federation Joins Syria Britain Business Council Conference
The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Tourism took part in the Syria Britain Business Council (SBBC) conference titled “Building a Diverse Economy,” held at the Golden Mazzeh Hotel in Damascus, with representatives of ministries and economic actors from both countries.
The conference featured a dialogue with Minister of Tourism Mazen Al-Salhani and Chairman of the Investment Authority Talal Hilali on the state of investment in tourism.
Promising growth indicators and a renewed push to reactivate investments.
Key points from Minister of Tourism Mazen Al-Salhani’s remarks at the Syria Britain Business Council conference:
• Record and accelerating growth: Notable stability has driven a jump in hotel occupancy rates and tourist numbers of between 150% and 200% compared with last year.
• Resolving stalled projects: A new phase has begun to address and reactivate hotel projects suspended since 2006 and reintroduce them within attractive investment plans.
These indicators reflect the return of security, restored confidence in the sector, and the gradual recovery of the Syrian tourism destination.
